House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) condemned a video President Trump shared over the weekend. The video was made with artificial intelligence (AI). It showed Trump dropping what appeared to be human waste on protesters. According to The Hill, Jeffries called the video „deeply unserious.“
„Well, that video is deeply unserious, deeply unpresidential, and deeply un-American,“ Jeffries said Monday. He spoke on CNN’s „Erin Burnett OutFront.“ The Democratic leader added that the behavior fits a pattern. He said the American people have seen erratic and extreme behavior from Trump and his administration from the start.
Video Content and Republican Response
Trump shared the AI-generated video late Saturday on his Truth Social platform. The video shows him wearing a crown while piloting a fighter jet. He drops brown liquid on „No Kings“ demonstrators. Kenny Loggins’s song „Danger Zone“ plays in the background. The jet flies over Times Square in New York City.
Trump also shared another AI video. That one shows him wearing a crown before a cape forms over his shoulders and he unsheathes a sword. The video ends with Democratic lawmakers kneeling. The clip references when they honored the late George Floyd in 2020.
Speaker Johnson Defends the Posts
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) dismissed the video as „satire“ on Monday. He said some protesters at Saturday’s rallies were „trying to incite violence.“ A reporter asked Johnson what it says when the president releases a video of him „pooping on the American people.“ Johnson responded that Trump uses social media to make a point. He called Trump probably the most effective person who ever used social media.
Democratic Leaders Voice Concerns
Jeffries criticized his Republican colleagues for continuing to „whitewash“ what he called the president’s extreme behavior. He said House Republicans behave as nothing more than reckless rubber stamps for Trump’s extreme agenda. Jeffries said that agenda is hurting the American people.
The latest video comes weeks after Trump mocked Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) with another AI-generated video. That video depicted Jeffries with a cartoon mustache and wearing a sombrero. It also included dubbed audio that made Schumer appear to bash his own party.
