Meta Platforms Inc. closed at $755.40 on Tuesday, down 1.28%, then edged to $756.36 after hours. The move came as Meta supported a new federal super PAC focused on technology and AI policy.

According to Parameter, the group seeks to shape state-level outcomes in key races. Meta links the effort to a rise in tech bills across states in 2025.

Meta’s nationwide super PAC targets state AI laws

Meta backed the American Technology Excellence Project to target state legislation that affects AI and tech. The group plans to invest tens of millions of dollars to support candidates who favor innovation and digital growth.

The super PAC says it will counter restrictive proposals that it argues could hurt U.S. tech leadership. Meta cites over 1,100 tech-related bills proposed at the state level in 2025.

Leadership includes Brian Baker, a Republican strategist, and Democratic firm Hilltop Public Solutions. The group plans to support bipartisan candidates who back AI progress and responsible regulation.

Three goals steer the PAC’s agenda

The super PAC lists three core goals. It aims to defend U.S. tech companies from regulatory overreach, promote AI innovation, and empower parents to control children’s AI and digital use.

Its leaders intend to push for policy that links AI growth with national competitiveness and free-market ideas. The group seeks to shape debates, not only respond to them.

The plan also nods to concerns over online safety and AI governance. The group argues that a balanced path can protect users and support innovation at the same time.

Silicon Valley steps up political efforts on AI

Meta’s push aligns with rising political action from tech firms on AI rules. Parameter notes that other players, including OpenAI and Andreessen Horowitz, launched a $100 million PAC with similar aims.

Last month, Meta formed a California super PAC that targets state races tied to its AI stance. The new federal effort extends that approach across the country.

Parameter also cites proposals like one from Senator Mark Kelly that would make companies pay for AI-driven societal harms. Meta views the super PAC as a tool to resist such measures and to support a friendlier policy setting for tech.

Parameter reports that Meta sees this political strategy as key to its innovation plans. The company signals it will stay active as state fights over AI expand.
