Cloudflare opened AI Week 2025 with a focus on helping organizations govern, secure, and deliver AI-driven experiences amid rapid adoption across industries. According to Cloudflare’s blog, the company is centering the week on security controls for AI usage, protections for creators’ content, developer tooling for safer AI apps, and applying AI within Cloudflare’s own products.

Securing AI environments and workflows

Cloudflare describes a widening gap between the pace of AI innovation and the maturity of tools to control it, citing risks such as Shadow AI, uncontrolled model proliferation, unintended data exposure, and autonomous agents with insufficient oversight. The company says it will announce controls to detect unauthorized AI usage, establish sanctioned “paved path” tooling that boosts productivity without sacrificing safeguards, and introduce new methods to protect proprietary models from poisoning or attacks.

Leaders across organizations are weighing whether to restrict AI or allow broad use; Cloudflare positions its zero trust capabilities, alongside its AI infrastructure work, as enabling more nuanced governance that can keep up with AI’s velocity.

Protecting original content and empowering developers

Cloudflare highlights the challenge content creators face as LLMs scrape and train on their work, noting its finding that driving site traffic from AI answers can be dramatically harder than from search. To address this, Cloudflare points to Crawl Control, aimed at giving publishers more say over how AI crawlers access their content. The company reports expanding participating content providers, improving crawler detection, and streamlining onboarding for faster protection.

Enhancements to AI Gateway

For builders, Cloudflare emphasizes making security the default in AI experiences through its developer platform and AI Gateway. The company says new enhancements include advanced caching to cut redundant model calls and costs, expanded observability for deeper performance and usage insights, and integrations with popular AI frameworks and services to simplify workflows and reduce latency by running applications close to end users.

Cloudflare adds that it is integrating AI across its product suite, from adaptive threat detection to performance optimizations, with the aim of making its platform more intuitive, efficient, and secure. Readers can follow ongoing updates on the AI Week hub, the company blog, and CloudflareTV, per the announcement.
