Apple’s approach, as described, centers Apple Foundation Models at the base of the experience, including for search-related functions. While third-party models are expected to participate via Private Cloud Compute, AppleInsider says the underlying search capability would be handled by Apple’s models. According to a Bloomberg report cited by AppleInsider, Apple plans to release its app intent–powered Siri in the spring, with enhanced AI web search among its features. The same Foundation Models that power the contextual app intent system are said to underpin the search experience as well.
How Apple and Google might split roles
